PRINCIPAL – CARMEL LEONARD
Carmel Leonard, SINGsational, has been singing and teaching for over 25 years and is still singing/entertaining within the industry herself. Carmel recently completed a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Music in 2011. She has completed Estill Voice Training and studied privately for many years with 2 very reputable teachers in the industry in Sydney. Carmel has completed her 7th Grade in Voice (AMEB) and has attended many workshops over the years held at NIDA and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Carmel not only has the ability to sing classical music, she also enjoy’s singing jazz, music theatre, pop and folk. Carmel conducts the choir at the Co-Cathedral Church in Fairy Meadow and also runs morning classes for children at the Good Samaritan Primary School, Fairy Meadow. Carmel was the Vocal Teacher at St Patrick’s College in Sydney. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Music at Wollongong University.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Carmel has performed in over 20 musicals both in Sydney and Wollongong, sung with Geoff Harvey and his band for a private function recently in Bowral, sung along side James Morrison and John Williamson,performs at Corporate/private functions, performed around the Sydney circuit for 4 years, sang at Cronulla’s famous “Opera on the Beach”, won the Richard Bonyhe Scholarship, Quarter finalist in the prestigious Marrickville Talent Quest, Sung in many duo’s and jazz bands and still continues to sing at many functions.
TEACHING ACHIEVEMENTS
Carmel has had many successes with her students over the years. Her most recent has been one of her students “Fiesita” who has made it through to this years 2014 kids version of “THE VOICE”. Carmel’s 10 yr old student “Ben” has auditioned successfully into the Australian Opera Company “Carmen” which will be on in March this year a the the Opera House. Her first ever HSC student got in the top 1% of the state and was invited to sing at the Sydney Opera House. She has assisted many students in achieving their goals from auditioning for Universities, schools, musicals etc, to winning Eisteddfods.
